U.S. Rep. Brad Miller Welcomes Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Photography Exhibit to Raleigh

Raleigh, NCU.S. Representative Brad Miller will visit the Vietnam Veterans Homecoming traveling photo exhibit when it arrives at the Legislative Building in Raleigh on Monday, March 19th. The photo exhibit features photographer David Kennerly's Pulitzer Prize-winning portfolio of combat photos from the Vietnam War. The mobile exhibits are being displayed across the state leading up to the Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on March 31st. The event is being hosted by the USO of North Carolina, the Charlotte Motor Speedway and the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters to recognize and honor the service of Vietnam Veterans.

David Kennerly has been photographing the front lines of history for more than 45 years in multiple wars. At age 25, he won the 1972 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for his work that included photos of the Vietnam, Cambodia, and India-Pakistan Wars.

"I think that is the role of the photographer to shed a little light into corners of the world you wouldn't see otherwise," said Kennerly. "It certainly is a tribute to the fighting men and women."

"The traveling photography exhibit provides another opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of our veterans who served in Vietnam," Rep. Miller said. "I invite everyone to visit the display in Raleigh."

The exhibit will be on display at the North Carolina State Legislative Building in Raleigh from March 19th - March 23rd.
