The Subcommittee hearing will examine a new report by the Government Accountability Office titled "Income Security: Overlapping Disability and Unemployment Benefits Should Be Evaluated for Potential Savings." Under current law, an individual can qualify for concurrent benefit payments from both programs despite each being designed to serve two different populations.
