WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that jurisdictions in Southern Illinois have received awards through the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program of the U.S. Department of Justice. The grants will be used to purchase bulletproof vests for local police officers and pay for up to 50% of the cost of the vests.
“I am pleased that these federal resources will supplement local funds to provide additional protective equipment for police officers in the 12th Congressional District,” said Costello, a former law enforcement official.
