Belleville – The Coalition Against Bigger Trucks recently recognized U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) for leading the fight to maintain current truck size and weight limits. Coalition representatives, Brad Roseberry and Gayle Ortyl, presented Costello with a plaque at the Congressman’s Belleville District office.
Costello, a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, offered an amendment to the recent House transportation bill to maintain current truck size and weight limits and to conduct a three-year study of the potential costs of an increase. Legislation is currently in a House/Senate Conference Committee where Costello is a conferee.
“I was honored to receive this recognition for my efforts to keep our highways safe,” said Costello. “I look forward to working with my colleagues from the House and Senate on the current transportation legislation and will fight to ensure truck size and weight restrictions are included in a final conference report.”
