WASHINGTON - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Illinois Department of Transportation has received a $3,341,000 Interstate Maintenance Discretionary program grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The funding will be used for rehabilitation work on I-57 in Pulaski and Union counties.
“Maintaining our transportation infrastructure is critical to economic development and improves safety,” said Costello, a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “When our roads and bridges are in good shape, we create jobs and commerce moves more efficiently, saving time and money. With this in mind, Congress recently passed a new highway bill to ensure that this type of funding is available for the next several years.”
