WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Village of Pittsburg has received a $1,588,000 Water and Waste Disposal Loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development. The funds will be used to construct a new transmission line to connect to the Rend Lake Conservancy District as a direct source of water as well as construction of a 150,000 gallon water ground storage tank and a 150,000 gallon elevated water storage tank.
“Projects such as this help build our communities, improve our quality of life and position our region for growth,” said Costello. “This loan is one more example of how USDA Rural Development continues to be a valuable resource in Southern Illinois.”
