HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y. – There is some mixed news from the Labor Department.
A new report shows the unemployment rate fell to 8.2 percent last month. It's the lowest level since January 2009. The report also shows the economy added 120,000 jobs.
However, that's down from the three previous months. About 200,000 jobs were added during each of those months.
"Our economy has now created more than four million private sector jobs over the past two years, more than 600,000 in the past three months alone. But it's clear to every American that there will still be ups and downs along the way and we've got a lot more work to do," President Obama said.
"It's always welcome to have more Americans employed. The numbers should be higher, though, and in previous recoveries, they've been as high you know, as 300,000, even 500,000 jobs a month. So this has been the slowest recovery since the great depression," said Representative Nan Hayworth.
Since December, the economy has added 858,000 jobs. The Labor Department says it's the best four months of hiring in two years.
