Times-Herald Record: Hayworth Requests Minisink Gas Compression Plant Noise Limits
Sunday April 22, 2012
Rep. Nan Hayworth has stepped into the fight against a $43 million natural-gas compressor station proposed for Minisink.
Minisink residents have vehemently opposed the plan by Millennium Pipeline Co. to build two 6,130-horsepower compressors and a pair of exhaust stacks 52 feet tall on residential Jacobs Road.
A decision by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission recently found that the project wouldn't significantly affect the quality of the human environment. FERC is now deciding whether to issue a certificate to let the project proceed.
Hayworth, R-Mount Kisco, filed a letter with FERC last week, asking the agency to require Millennium to install noise-abatement measures, screen the station and, upon request, make available to local safety entities reasonable training and equipment necessary to respond to emergencies.
