GOSHEN - Families can get identification cards for children, learn fire-safety tips and participate in other safety-related activities on Saturday at a free event organized by Rep. Nan Hayworth.

The activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Orange County Fire Training Center at 9 Training Center Lane in New Hampton. Participating agencies include the Orange County Sheriff's Office, West Point Fire Department and the county Emergency Services Department.

Parents can get cards with their children's photos and fingerprints to provide authorities if a child is missing. Other activities include a demonstration of how car accidents occur and how passengers are extracted from mangled vehicles.
