Hayworth Comments on President Obama's UN Speech in Times Herald-Record

Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth, R-Mount Kisco, on the other hand, said she wished Obama had called upon Muslim leaders to reject violence against innocents.

Hayworth said she doesn't believe a recent video slandering Islam was the true cause of the violence in Libya in which four Americans were killed.

"What I would like to hear the president call for is leadership within the Muslim world to assure that they will not pursue violence against innocent people under any pretext," she said.

She also said she was disappointed that Obama didn't meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York.

"The president needs to make clear that we have a bond with, and a deeply shared common heritage and common interest and shared defense of, the state of Israel," she said.
