Agenda
This hearing assessed response and recovery efforts across all levels of government in the aftermath of the 2011 spring storms, tornadoes, and floods. It examined our progress in recovering from disasters and identify ongoing challenges. We explored how these disasters affected communities and key parts of State and local economies. We discussed preparedness and mitigation efforts being taken at the Federal, State and local levels to avoid repetitive losses in future disasters. We examined the success rates and implementation feasibility of various mitigation activities that are receiving significant attention in the Southeast region in the aftermath of the spring storms.
