Pledge Reaffirms House Republicans’ strong commitment to Protect our Homeland

Washington, D.C. (Thursday, September 23, 2010) – Today, ¬U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (R-NY), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement on the House Republicans’ “Pledge to America”:

“The ‘Pledge to America’ unveiled today reaffirms House Republicans’ strong commitment to do all that is needed to protect our homeland as well as confront and defeat the threat of Islamic terrorism against America.

“The federal government must protect our citizens. A product of listening to and engaging the American people, the ‘Pledge to America’ puts forward a common sense agenda for securing our homeland.

“Keeping Guantanamo detainees and other terrorists out of America; trying terrorists, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, in military commissions instead of civilian courts; strengthening visa security; securing our borders against illegal immigration; and enforcing our immigration laws are all critical tools in our fight to secure our homeland and protect the lives of Americans.”
