Red-faced Port Authority officials may soon face a Capitol Hill grilling over the stunning security lapse at JFK that allowed a stranded jet-skier to hop a perimeter fence and walk across two runways without setting off an alarm.
“If problems are not quickly addressed or if additional security vulnerabilities are discovered, I will consider a hearing,” said Rep. Peter King (R-LI).
King, the Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, said his office is investigating how Daniel Casillo’s breach wasn’t detected by the airport’s $100 million perimeter-security system.
The system, by defense contractor Raytheon, was designed to make JFK impregnable to terrorists and trespassers.
