Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) says releasing photos of prisoners abused in U.S. military custody would be a boon for anti-American extremists—and perhaps for some perverts as well.

“No good comes out of it whatsoever except some voyeuristic thrill that maybe some people get from looking at this,” King said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “If these photos come out 20 years from now, fine.”

King didn’t mince words about the American Civil Liberties Union, which sued for release of the photos. He accused the group of having “compassionate concern” for terrorists and of taking “delight in tearing down the U.S.”

King also lashed out at The New York Times, which he said was run by “troglodytes.”

ACLU executive director Anthony Romero said the group was standing up for American traditions, not undercutting them.

“This is about American values,” Romero said.
