Alaska Federation of Natives to honor Chairman Akaka at annual convention

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - The Alaska Federation of Natives will hold a special luncheon honoring U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii) for his decades of leadership and collaboration next Thursday, October 18 at noon in the Downtown Marriott Hotel in Anchorage.
The following day, Senator Akaka will address the Alaska Federation of Natives Convention at in the Dena'ina Civic & Convention Center, on Friday, October 19 at 1:30 p.m.
Senator Akaka is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. This will be his first address to the convention, which is the largest annual gathering of Alaska Natives in the world.
