Committee Assignments
Due to the vast amount of bills and issues that Members of Congress must work on a daily basis, the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate divide their tasks among Committees and Subcommittees. The House and Senate each have their own committee system, which are similar. In the House of Representatives, Congressman Reyes serves as the Democratic Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces and he is a senior Member of the Subcommittee on Readiness. Congressman Reyes also serves as the 3rd most senior Democrat on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs.

House Armed Services Committee

The House Committee on Armed Services is responsible for funding and oversight of the Department of Defense (DOD) and the United States Armed Forces, as well as a substantial portion of the Department of Energy (DOE).

House Committee on Veterans Affairs

The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs reviews veterans' programs, examines current laws, and reports bills and amendments to strengthen existing laws concerning veterans and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), such as for health care, disability compensation, GI bill education and job training, home loan guarantees, life insurance policies, and a nationwide system of veterans' cemeteries.
