“We Are All in this Together”
Perlmutter: Job Growth, Energy Independence Will Lead to Stable, Secure Economy

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) voted with a bipartisan majority in the House to support the compromise budget to fund our country for the remainder of the year.

Perlmutter stated, “This isn’t the bill I would have written, but it is one I support.  We have a shared responsibility to keep our great nation operating, and we are all in this together.  Crucial federal projects creating jobs in Colorado, like the new VA hospital and the Orion space capsule project, are fully funded.  Other programs, like renewable energy and transportation funding, take a modest cut in this budget, however no jobs should be lost.  I still am very concerned with the cuts to wildfire suppression efforts, the number of cops protecting our neighborhoods, and energy efficiency programs which could impact our ability to push forward toward energy independence and job growth. "

"As we move forward on budgeting for 2012, my number one priority is to ensure we get people back to work and make things here in America -- not in foreign countries. That's the best thing we can do to reduce spending and move forward toward economic stability. I will continue working to ensure we maintain our critical services enabling job growth, energy independence, and a safe, reliable transportation infrastructure."
