Perlmutter Supports NASA Reauthorization

Bill Now Goes to President's Desk

September 30, 2010

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement after yesterdays bipartisan passage of S. 3729 – The NASA Authorization Act of 2010.  The bill passed the House by a vote of 304 to118 and authorizes NASA funding for fiscal years 2011 – 2013 and now goes to the President’s desk.

“This bill is a victory for those who fought to save the Orion project.  I will continue to support Colorado’s aerospace workforce which plays such a pivotal role for NASA and the future of manned space flight.  Last February the President’s budget called for cancelling the Orion project which would have led to the loss of thousands of high paying Colorado jobs.  While this bill is not perfect, I am proud to have worked with Republicans and Democrats from across the country to help preserve jobs and maintain America’s technological edge.  I look forward to continuing to work to preserve Colorado’s leadership role as NASA moves forward in the 21st century,” stated Perlmutter.
