Collaboration Fosters Economic Growth & Development

Washington, DC– Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) released the following statement of support for the West Chamber and Spearfish, South Dakota chambers of commerce and economic development groups exchange trip this week:

“Economic development exchanges like this help foster an environment where best practices and ideas about small business and job growth are shared.  Here in Jefferson County and Lakewood we have a lot to be proud of including the Belmar redevelopment, the smart growth and multimodal planning taking place near the Denver Federal Center and quality properties like the Golden Hill Office Center, where my District Office is located.

My district office is in one of Propp Realty Management’s properties and is a LEED-EB (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design – Existing Building) Silver building with solar panels on the roof.  I am proud to have the only Congressional District Office in a LEED certified building.  I commend Propp Realty for investing in their buildings to not only save utility costs but also attract more tenants who want to work in energy efficient buildings.  Here in Colorado we know that renewable energy and energy efficiency in the buildings we live and work in are good for the environment and good for the bottom line.

Colorado and the West Chamber have many economic development success stories and I look forward to hearing about how the Spearfish, South Dakota region is working with their small business community to promote tourism and job growth.”
