Washington, DC -- Today U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) opposed another short-term Republican gimmick to hold up funding for important transportation priorities in our country.  Perlmutter's statement is below:

"I support the bipartisan Senate solution extending the transportation funding bill and the fuel tax, however, House Republicans refused to allow a vote on that plan.  Instead, they continue to play political games  with the safety and security of important transportation priorities and forced a short-term extension. Despite having the option to vote on a bipartisan bill that passed with 74 votes in the Senate, Tea Party Republicans in the House are holding these projects hostage.  We need certainty in our country right now, and short term extensions don't allow for proper planning and completion of these transportation projects."
