Rep. Dave Camp Announces $99,715 USDA Grant to Help Michigan Farmers
Monday, December 02, 2002
Washington, D.C.– Rep. Dave Camp (R-Midland) announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is awarding the Michigan Department of Agriculture $99,715 in grant money to be used in partnership with several organizations for providing risk management education. Small and mid-size fruit, vegetable and timber producers will be targeted through demonstration projects, display exhibits and workshops.

“This funding will offer traditionally underserved farmers with the tools they need to build and maintain their businesses,” Camp said. “I am pleased that the USDA is working with small and limited-resource producers in Michigan farmers to give them the opportunity to become better risk managers.”

Michigan farmers will also benefit from a $100,000 outreach agreement awarded to the Michigan Integrated Food and Farming Systems that will be used to educate and promote a variety of risk management tools.
