Camp Announces FEMA Grant to Help Marion Community Fire Department
Friday, November 22, 2002
WASHINGTON, D.C. –Following the ninth round of the 2002 Assistance to Firefighter Grant Awards, U.S. Rep. Dave Camp, R-Midland, announced today that the Marion Community Fire Department was one of 15 Michigan fire departments chosen to receive the special grant. Marion’s fire department will receive $91,418 to be used to improve fire operations and firefighter safety.

“This grant is an important step in supplying the firefighters of Marion with the right tools to help them do their jobs safely and more efficiently,” Camp said. “I am pleased that Marion has been selected for this award that will help them improve fire service delivery to the residents it serves.”

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is designed as an opportunity for the U.S. Congress to work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to enhance basic fire delivery across the United States. Over 5,000 departments will receive over $360 million to support fire protection, EMS delivery, vehicle purchase and prevention programs in 2002.
