2013 Presidential Inauguration
Monday, January 21, 2013
Swearing-In Ceremonies
U.S. Capitol
Washington, D.C.

For more than two hundred years, America's citizens have witnessed the Inauguration ceremonies of the President and Vice President of the United States. From the first Inauguration of George Washington to today, as we prepare for the 57th Presidential Inauguration, the swearing-in ceremonies represent both national renewal and continuity of leadership.

As a U.S. Senator, my office receives a limited number of tickets to distribute to my constituents who plan on visiting Washington, D.C. for this event. If you are a New Mexico resident interested in attending the Inaugural swearing-in ceremonies, please review the following information and click on the link below to request tickets. Please note: submitting this form is a request only and does not guarantee tickets. The deadline to request tickets through my office is December 16, 2012.

Things to Know Before Making Your Request:

  • Demand for Inaugural tickets far exceeds the number available, therefore my office will be conducting a lottery in late December to distribute the tickets alloted to my office. There is a limit of one request per household address.
  • As a Senator for New Mexico, my office is only able to distribute tickets to state residents. Even if you have ties to New Mexico (you were born there, have lived there previously, attended college there, have family there, etc.) you must be a current New Mexico resident to receive Inaugural tickets from my office. Each Congressional office has a limited number of tickets available, so if you are not a New Mexico resident, please contact a Senator and/or Representative from your state to request tickets.
  • Please do not make your travel plans contingent on receiving tickets. My office will do its best to notify you in a timely manner if you have received tickets in the lottery.
  • Tickets will most likely be for standing room only areas. Due to crowds, security procedures and the length of the ceremonies, ticket holders should expect to be standing outside in winter weather for several hours.
  • All children old enough to walk must have their own ticket. Strollers are not allowed in any ticketed areas. Event organizers discourage bringing young children to the Inaugural ceremonies due to weather conditions, the length of time you will spend standing and limited access to restroom and dining facilities.
  • There are many ways to participate in the Inaugural festivities that do not a require ticket. While a ticket may place you physically closer to the swearing-in itself, the majority of people will view the Inaugural ceremonies from the National Mall where tickets are not required.

If you have questions not answered either above or on our FAQ page, please email inauguration@tomudall.senate.gov. All interested parties must request tickets via the online web form - sending a message to this email address with your information will not enter you in the lottery for tickets.
