The American Red Cross is urging immediate blood donations to support the blood needs of those affected by Post-Tropical Cyclone Sandy.

Health Quest and American Red Cross will host a blood drive from noon to 4 p.m. today in the Joseph Tower Auditorium of Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Free parking is available in the center’s garage, 1 Columbia St. Financial donations for the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund will be accepted.

No appointment is necessary. Healthy individuals who are at least 17 years old and who weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to donate blood.
