A splendid suit of Japanese ceremonial armor, crafted in the first half of the eighteenth century for a samurai officer of commanding rank, is now on display in the Japanese Galleries on the first floor of the Museum. Maribeth Graybill, The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Asian Art, successfully bid on this work during a recent auction.

This summer, the Museum will present Cyclepedia: A Century of Iconic Bicycle Design. Drawn from the collection of Vienna-based designer and bike aficionado Michael Embacher, who has one of the most important collections in the world, the exhibition will explore bicycle design from the whimsical to cutting edge racing models and high-end design masterpieces.
