Federal Agency Help - Passports

A passport is an internationally recognized travel document that verifies the identity and nationality of the bearer. A valid U.S. passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. And now, with the implementation of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), U.S. citizens need a passport or equivalent document when returning from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, or the Caribbean.

If you are planning travel outside of the United States, please apply for a passport. We recommend that you apply early. Routine service processing time is currently 4 to 6 weeks. Click here to find a passport facility near you.

If your planned departure is approaching and you have not received your passport, please contact my office. Please have the following information ready when contacting our office:

Name of Applicant
Date of Birth
Locator #:(If you do not know your locator number, you will need to provide your complete social number.)
Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
Address and phone number

The San Francisco Passport Agency serves customers who are traveling within 2 weeks (14 days), or who need foreign visas for travel. An appointment is required.
