National Security and Foreign Policy

America must have a strong military in order to deter threats and protect our national security in the face of danger when we have exhausted diplomatic efforts or are required to respond to an imminent threat. That is why I support an increased military budget that is equal to at least four percent of gross domestic product. Also, our national security and foreign policy institutions must work to deter or prevent our enemies from threatening us and our allies with weapons of mass destruction. If necessary, America must be able to project power to different parts of the world simultaneously. A strong American military will help strengthen and stabilize our allies and assist emerging democracies across the globe.
