The Borough of East Rutherford, located in Southern Bergen
County, is home to just under 9,000 residents.East Rutherford is best known as the location of the Meadowlands Sports
Complex, including Giants Stadium, Izod
Center, and the Meadowlands
Racetrack. The Complex is home to the New Jersey Nets, the New York/New Jersey
Red Bulls, The New York Jets, and the 2008 Super Bowl Champion New York
Giants.
Originally the borough was called Boiling Springs
Township due to the
naturally occurring springs in the area.East Rutherford was given its current
name and form of government by a referendum in 1894.
