Make it in America - Democrats Push to Create Jobs and Products Here at Home

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement on the strong bipartisan passage of H.R. 4380, the U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act. This bill will help U.S. manufacturers compete at home and abroad by temporarily suspending or reducing duties on intermediate products or materials these companies use that are not made domestically or opposed by domestic producers.

“Today, the House of Representatives took up H.R. 4380, the U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act, ensuring that American manufacturers have the resources needed to prosper and create jobs by promoting American competitiveness, innovation and exports. Part of Democrat’s Make it in America manufacturing agenda, this legislation will lower costs for materials American businesses use in production by suspending or reducing duties on materials used by these companies that are not available domestically. The U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act is estimated to create tens of thousands of jobs, increasing production of goods manufactured here in America and pumping billions of dollars into the U.S. economy.”

“Republican leadership continues to fight for a return to the failed policies of the Bush Administration that resulted in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression and nearly doubled the national debt.  Democrats in Congress are working to ensure that small businesses and U.S. manufacturers have the help they need in order to create jobs and bolster the economy here at home.”
