WASHINGTON- Today Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) voted in favor of the Job Protection and Recession Prevention Act, H.R. 8, which extends the current income tax rates for one year and blocks scheduled tax increases. This bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 256-171.
“The American people don’t want bigger government and higher taxes. And they don’t want their children and grandchildren to be saddled with mountains of debt,” Mack said. “Unfortunately President Obama and his liberal allies continue to think raising taxes will pull us out of this recession, but they are dead wrong. For over three years, unemployment has hovered over 8% -- their big government policies are not working. To get the country back on track, create jobs and get Americans working again, we must extend tax relief for struggling American families and small business owners who are our country’s economic engine.”
