Learn and Serve Grant Opportunity
The Corporation for National and Community Service has released
its Fiscal Year 2011 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Learn
and Serve America's Youth Engagement Zone.
Youth Engagement Zone programs use service-learning as a
strategy to improve academic engagement - including student
attendance and behavior - and academic achievement, high school
graduation rates, and college-going rates. These grants will
provide support for eligible partnerships to develop coordinated
school- or community-based service-learning opportunities for
secondary school students within a defined geographic area.
Applicants must involve a number of local partners - specifically,
local educational agencies, community colleges, and community-based
entities-in the design and implementation of the program.
