Healthcare repeal vote
Wednesday, July 11, 2012
U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette (R-OH) today voted to repeal the
healthcare law. The measure passed by a vote of 244-185.
LaTourette issued the following statement:
"I've always believed there were some really good things
in the healthcare law, especially provisions for pre-existing
conditions and allowing children to remain on their parents' plan
until age 26," LaTourette said; "However, since the very
start of the drafting process I feared the bill would morph into a
hugely expensive exercise where every idea ever envisioned,
rejected or put on hold would find a home, including when, where
and how long breast feeding breaks should be, nutritional labeling
of food at chain restaurants, and taxes on everything from medical
devices to indoor tanning beds."
