Trumbull County Commissioners to receive 250K from
Appalachian Regional Commission for sanitary sewer
improvements
U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette today announced that Trumbull
County will receive $250K in ARC funding for Kermont Heights
sanitary sewer improvements. LaTourette was instrumental in
getting Trumbull, Ashtabula and Mahoning counties added to the
ARC. The sewers will start on State Route 7 and 17,055 linear
feet of sanitary line will benefit 157 households, three churches,
and five businesses.
The project will protect residents by reducing storm run-off
from failing septic systems. It will also improve water
quality in the Shenango River Watershed, LaTourette added.
The project is also funded with $250K from Ohio Public Works
Commission, with local sources providing almost $2.9 million
through the Ohio EPA Water Pollution Central Loan Fund.
"The total funding cost of the project is nearly $3.4 million,
or $3,353,991," LaTourette said. "This is a great example of the
ARC helping to leverage funds to complete projects, and it will
allow the county to abide with a 2007 consent decree with the Ohio
EPA."
