Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Heath Shuler congratulated Rosa Trull for being named "Client of the Year for Overcoming Financial Crisis" during OnTrack's 10th annual Financial Literacy Awards Luncheon in Asheville today.
"I applaud Rosa for her perseverance in the face of hardship and determination to take control of her finances," said Rep. Shuler. "I also applaud the staff at OnTrack for their commitment to assisting Rosa and others like her struggling to make ends meet during these challenging economic times. While Rosa's achievements are exceptional, her story is a testament to what can be accomplished with a resolute spirit and OnTrack’s expertise and advocacy."
After the onset of a serious health problem forced her to prematurely end her career, Rosa struggled to pay her mortgage and put food on the table for her family. Last year she called Rep. Shuler's office for help. A member of Rep. Shuler's staff worked with Rosa and referred her to OnTrack, a non-profit United Way agency that works to help residents in Western North Carolina better manage money and credit through financial education and counseling. OnTrack's financial counselors worked to find a solution to make Rosa's mortgage payments affordable and save her home from foreclosure.
