- While President Obama continues to make the arguement for raising taxes on the very small businesses we need to create jobs he is avoiding the real problem: Washington's out of control spending. The chart below demostrates how spending has soared and will continue to do so in the future. It's a spending problem Mr. President!

How serious is President Obama about addressing the fiscal cliff and our national debt - not very. President Obama has yet to specify what his plan to cut spending is and making matters worse 3/4 of the tax increases the President is pushin...g for go to fund NEW SPENDING. $16 Trillion is an astronomical figure and the President must show leadership to address it.See More

Here are my thoughts on the notion that the defense portion of A123 can be seperated from the non-defense sectors:

An excellent piece by Small Business Chair Sam Graves on the looming regulatory cliff. Much is said of how raising taxes will negatively impact small business, however, what often goes unnoticed is the negative impact of over-regulation o...n economic growth, investment, and job creation.See More
Did you know?
The overall regulatory burden is now $1.8 trillion annually, according to the Competitive Enterprise Institute, and this year alone new rules have added $215.4 billion in compliance costs.
There has already been a wave of “economically significant” regulations ‑ those with an annual impact of $100 million or more ‑ that outpaced both the Clinton and Bush administrations. That pace slowed leading into the 2012 elections, but a second wave has been building.
As Washington debates a fiscal cliff on spending and taxes, we should not forget the regulatory avalanche that awaits businesses in the New Year. Roughly 4,100 new regulations are in the pipeline, according to the government’s website. Not all these regulations will affect small businesses. Many will, however ‑ and the compliance costs for small firms will exceed that of their large competitors by some 36 percent.
Find out just how devastating the Regulatory Cliff will be on America's engine of economic growth HERE: http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2012/12/06/the-regulatory-cliff-awaits/Rep. Bill Huizenga shared a link.

Small Businesses sound off, say President Obama's plan to raise taxes will slow growth, lower investment and cost jobs.

We shouldn't be raising taxes on anyone - our focus needs to be on getting people back to work and raising taxes on small businesses doesn't do that.

A group of 13 Michigan lawmakers last week expressed concern over Wanxiang’s bid to buy A123’s assets. The delegation — including Rep. Another interesting read today, this time from USA TODAY, regarding the need for entitlement reform:
Do Democrats really believe Social Security doesn't contribute to federal deficits and the national debt? They're certainly saying it a lo...t: "Social Security does not add one penny to our debt, not a penny," Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, insisted Sunday on ABC's This Week. Well, saying it's a fact doesn't make it so. .....See More
Denying this harsh reality requires playing accounting shell games and believing (or pretending to believe) that Social Security can be bailed out by its trust fund. And if you believe that, we have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.
