South Bend, Ind. – Last Friday, Congressman Joe Donnelly hosted his 3rd Annual Job Fair at IU South Bend. This event was designed to connect Hoosiers looking for work with prospective employers and provide Hoosiers considering higher education with an opportunity to connect with representatives from local educational institutions and retraining programs. Fifty-five businesses and 11 educational institutions participated in today’s event.
Congressman Donnelly speaks to employers participating in his 3rd Annual Job Fair.
“I was pleased to host today’s job fair in South Bend because helping Hoosiers find work is my top priority in Congress,” said Donnelly. “That’s why I have hosted events such as today’s job fair and supported job-creating legislation in Congress, such as my AMERICA Works Act, which would better connect skilled workers with the employers who need them. By giving Hoosiers opportunities to meet potential employers or learn more about our higher education institutions, we can keep the Hoosier economy moving forward.”
Friday’s job fair was the second event this summer that Donnelly has organized to help Hoosiers seeking work. Last month, Donnelly’s office hosted a job seekers’ workshop designed to provide Hoosiers looking for work with help improving their job search techniques. The workshop featured five break-out sessions, including tips on using the Internet to search for employment and sharpening interview skills.
