Tech Conservative

Congressman Blackburn is a leader among Members of Congress interested in technology policy.  To Marsha, these are not boutique policy arguments about technical issues.  Rather, they are vital debates that will determine the future of free markets, free speech, and free people.  She laid out her views in January, 2011 in a speech to the State of the Net Conference.  She elaborated on these issues as they relate to privacy at the Telecommunications Industry Association's Spring Meeting in May of 2011.

One of the most important tech issues is "net neutrality", the first ever government regulation of the internet.  In Blackburn's Blackboard Marsha explains the issue. 




In June 2011, Congressman Blackburn addressed the need to defeat Net Neutrality, and begin defending free market values in other tech arenas, like wireless.

 Supporters of government intervention in the tech marketplace, through policies like "net neutrality" are well organized.  Watch below for a great summary of the net neutrality debate and what happened after one of these groups promised to provide their funding information, but didn't follow through. 




 In April, the House passed a Resolution of Disapproval designed to repeal net neutrality regulations.  Here, Congressman Blackburn speaks in support of that resolution.
