Capitol and Other D.C. Tours

If you are a resident of the 4th Congressional District, the Office of Congressman Crenshaw would be happy to assist you in obtaining a tour from the following attractions in Washington, DC. To request a tour, click here.

*Please note: All requests should be made with a minimal of 5 weeks in advance to increase your chances of receiving a tour. Please understand that tour request acceptance or denial is based solely on availability during the time of your visit.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing

General Information:
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is the U.S. Government's security printer, responsible for the design and manufacture of U.S. currency, postage stamps, Treasury obligations and other U.S. securities.
The Bureau provides a continuous self-guided tour, which lasts about 20 minutes.

Tour Hours:
The Visitors Center's hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Bureau is closed for all Federal holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Capitol Tours

General Information:
The United States Capitol building has been home to the Senate and House of Representatives for more than two centuries. It is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. Guided tours of the Capitol begin in the Capitol Visitors Center (CVC) at the Orientation Theaters on the lower level of the CVC. "Out of Many, One," a 13-minute film, illustrates how this country established a new form of government, highlights the vital role that Congress plays in the daily lives of Americans. The movie will be followed by a guided tour of the capitol building that will last approximately 45 minutes.

Tours are free, but tour passes are required.

Tour hours: 8:50 a.m. - 3:20 p.m., Monday - Saturday

Hours:
The CVC is open to the public from 8:30AM to 4:30PM Monday through Saturday.
The CVC is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Inauguration Day.

Official Business: Visitors with official business appointments may enter the Visitor Center as early as 7:15 A.M.

*Please note that visitors to the Capitol are not permitted to bring any of the following items: aerosol sprays, liquids of any kind (including water bottles), unsealed foodstuffs, oversized suitcases or backpacks, knives of any kind, razors, mace, pepper spray, matches or lighters. However, Capitol police are authorized to make exceptions if the prohibited item is deemed to be necessary and required to serve child care, medical, or other special needs.

Library of Congress

General Information:

The Library of Congress offers hour-long, fully accessible docent-led tours of the historic Thomas Jefferson Building.

National Archives

General Information:
The Public Vaults display at any given time about 1,100 records-originals or facsimiles of documents, photographs, maps, drawings, film or audio clips, allowing you to see the raw materials of our American democracy.
You need at least 90 minutes to explore our exhibits and learning center

Pentagon

General Information:
The tour route is approximately one and one half miles in length and lasts for approximately 90 minutes.

Tour Hours:
This tour may be requested Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. There is no minimum or maximum group size for this tour. All guided tours of the Pentagon are free and are available by reservation only. Tours are not conducted on weekends or Federal holidays. Security Information is required for all attendees.

United States Supreme Court

General Information:
24 minutes visitor's film (closed captioning available) located on the ground floor. Public lectures are available in the courtroom every hour on the half-hour from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm on days that the Court is not sitting.

Tour Hours:
The building is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays.

One First Street, NE, across First Street from the U.S. Capitol and across East Capitol Street from the Library of Congress.
