GOP Running Out the Clock on the Middle Class
America’s top priority remains job creation. Yet in the year and a half since Republicans took control of the House of Representatives we’ve seen them focus on everything but jobs. Instead, they've left working and middle class families paying the price for their obstruction, political theater, and manufactured crises.
It has become all to clear that the Republicans in Congress would rather see President Obama fail than our country succeed. And now, they’re running out the clock on American priorities. Republican obstruction is holding up what in any other year would be non-controversial bipartisan legislation.
Just a few of the things Republicans in Congress have blocked include:
- Jobs for 3 million Americans
- Keeping student loan rates from doubling on July 1
- A middle class tax cut
- Reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act
It doesn’t have to be this way. Democrats are ready to act. We hope Republican leaders change their mind and do what the American people expect of them – stop the games and get back to work!
