Congresswoman Corrine Brown made the following statement:
“My thoughts and heartfelt prayers go out to the family and friends of Jordan Russell Davis during this extraordinarily painful time. It is tragic that just 8 months after the death of an innocent teenager, Trayvon Martin, we are seeing a repeat occurrence of senseless violence in our community. I am, however, pleased that the local authorities are handling this case differently, and unlike the case of George Zimmerman, Michael Dunn was arrested, remains behind bars, has a murder charge pending, and was denied bail. I am hopeful that this case will play out fairly in the court system and that justice will be served for Jordan and his family. This tragic occurrence underlines once again the importance of why the state of Florida desperately needs to clarify its Stand Your Ground Law.”
