  3. Happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating!
  4. Today, I am remembering those who lost their lives 71 years ago at Pearl Harbor, and thanking the men and women who's service keeps our nation safe.
  5. I am pleased that my colleagues selected me to serve another term as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee. As our country continues to face great challenges, I am committed to standing up and fighting for the national security goals and principles of our caucus.
  6. In 2012, provisions in the healthcare law that fixed Medicare’s “donut hole” saved Washington State beneficiaries $84.7 million. 9. Reminder that I will be appearing this morning with Ben Affleck on ABC's "This Week" to discuss the conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We must continue to actively engage international leaders to work towards solutions. It is critical that rebel groups are prevented from wreaking further havoc in this region.

  12. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Staff Sergeant Rayvon Battle, Jr., who was assigned to JBLM and lost his life serving our nation in Afghanistan. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.
  13. Earlier this week, the Department of Transportation announced that Delta Airlines earned preliminary approval for a flight from Sea-Tac to Haneda, Tokyo's downtown airport. This is great news for the Puget Sound region. For more information, see my statement below.
  14. Today, I met with constituents and Ugandan representatives from Invisible Children, the organization behind the KONY 2012 Film. The Ugandans, Jacob and Jolly, were abducted by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and were able to provide valuable perspective. I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to rally international support to end LRA violence.
