Military Academy Nomination

As Montana’s Representative to the U.S. Congress, it is my privilege to make a limited number of nominations for each of the military service academies.  The nominees for appointment are selected on a competitive basis, using criteria determined by the academies. All nominees must reside in the state of Montana and must meet the following basic eligibility requirements as of July 1 of the year of the desired entry to a service academy:

  •     Age: Be at least 17 years old, but not have passed your 23rd birthday.
  •     Citizenship: Be a United States citizen.
  •     Marital Status: Be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation for support of a child or other dependents.

Admission to one of our nation's military academies, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is highly competitive and individuals nominated from the state of Montana must meet the high standards set by the academy.  Though it is a sometimes difficult process, the rewards for a successful applicant may be great.

All applicants should also apply directly to the academies and ask that a pre-candidate file be opened for them. In addition, all applicants are required to take the SAT or ACT. Contact your high school counselor or academy liaison officer for additional guidance through the academy selection process. Please submit all the required information to me no later than November 1.

Below is a list of documents that need to be in your academy file. Please send these items to my academy representative, Linda Price, Congressman Denny Rehberg, 1201 Grand Avenue #1, Billings, MT.
