McDermott Statement on EADS’ Decision to Not Appeal

March 4, 2011

SEATTLE, WA – Today, Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA) released the following statement after EADS announced that they will not appeal the Air Force’s decision to award Boeing with the tanker contract:

“Without EADS protesting, Boeing’s tanker bid is now cleared for takeoff.  It’s appropriate that Boeing – the company that developed some of the first aerial refueling technology – is now poised to develop the newest and most advanced tanker ever built.  And congratulations, finally, to all of the aerospace workers in Washington and everyone in the industry – you continue to prove that our state is the aerospace manufacturing hub for the world.”
