Sen. Franken Presents Dai Vinh with his Bronze Star
Last weekend, Sen. Franken presented Dai Vinh, a former Captain in the South Vietnamese Army, with a Bronze Star medal he earned during the Vietnam war. Captain Vinh was originally awarded the medal when he saved several American lives in a mortar attack in 1968. However, his medal was lost in transit when Vinh moved to Minnesota after the United States withdrew from Vietnam in 1975.
Dai Vinh contacted Sen. Franken's office two months ago. Sen. Franken and his staff worked with the National Personnel Records Center in Washington, D.C. to replace the medal.
Vinh became a U.S. citizen in 1980. Photographs from the event can be seen here.
