Q: How do I find out how you voted on legislation I am interested in?
A: Finding my voting record is easy. Simply use the Library of Congress’ website, thomas.loc.gov. You can search by the bill’s name, number, or keywords to see how I voted on a particular piece of legislation, or you can search by my name to see the bills I have sponsored.

Q: What can you do for me?
A: I can help constituents with a federal issue, such as a missing social security check, an immigration question, or a veteran’s affairs issue.

Q: What can’t you do for me?
A: I cannot intercede in any matter before any courts.

I cannot intercede in any state, city, county, or municipal government issue.

Q: Can you help me with a problem I am having with a federal agency?
A: I can help with any problems First District residents may be having with federal agencies, including problems with Social Security, labor issues, housing, passports, veterans affairs, and immigration. For more information, please see my Help With Federal Agencies page.

Q: What Congressional District do I live in?
A: To find out whether or not you live in New York's First Congressional District, simply log-on to www.house.gov
and enter your zip code.

Q: I am going to visit Washington, D.C. Can you assist me with tickets for tours of the Capitol, White House, and other interesting attractions?

Q: How can I let you know my feelings on issues and legislation?
A: Representing your interests in Congress is my number one priority, so please e-mail me your questions, comments, and concerns. Alternatively, you can send postal mail, fax, or call my Washington, D.C. office.

Q: How can I get a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol?
A: I am proud to offer United States flags at a nominal fee as a service to my constituents. At your request, I can even have your flag flown over the U.S. Capitol. To order a flag, please use my flag request form.

Q: Do you offer internships in your Long Island or Washington, D.C. offices?
A: Yes, I offer internships in both of my offices for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as for recent graduates. For more information, please visit the internship section of this website, or contact the office at which you would be interested in serving as an intern.

Q: How can I request a meeting with you or invite you to attend my event?
A: The best way to schedule a meeting or event is to use my online scheduling form.

Q: I have sent you a letter with my thoughts on an issue. How long will it be until I can expect a response?
A: As you might imagine, I receive a tremendous volume of mail and e-mail. I do my very best to respond to each letter I receive as quickly as possible, but response times can vary. Please allow up to four weeks to hear back from me. Because of new security screening requirements, regular mail can take longer to get to me.
