2012 Congressional Art Competition Winners Announced!

Congressman Bishop with the winners of the 2012 Congressional Art Competition (l-r):  Nicole Frank of East Hampton High School, First Place; Mary Hughes of  Patchogue-Medford High School, Second Place; Mariah Dempsey of East Hampton High School, Third Place. Congratulations to all!  Nicole Frank will have her painting entitled “Abundance” displayed  in a year-long exhibit in the U.S. Capitol along with the work of other high school students from around the country.

Congressman Bishop with the five students awarded Honorable Mention in the 2012 Congressional Art Competition (l-r)  Brian Holder of Patchogue-Medford High School;  Kaliegh Kessler of Center Moriches High School; Megan Cassidy of Bellport High School, and Ayendi Almonte of Longwood High School.  Morgan DiNapoli of Patchogue-Medford High School also won Honarable Mention.

The exhibit and awards ceremony were held in the Lyceum Art Gallery at Suffolk County Community College in Riverhead and was co-sponsored by East End Arts.  The juror, selected by East End arts was Long Island artist Elizabeth Malunowicz.   A total of 31 students from nine different high schools in the First Congressional District participated in the competition.
