Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Steve Southerland, II issued the following statement today applauding the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ decision to maintain lock hours on the Jim Woodruff Dam on the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Rivers (ACF) system ensuring continued access for Florida’s fishermen and boaters on a 10 hours per day, four days per week schedule:

“After continued discussions with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and meeting personally with concerned citizens, outdoorsmen and local officials in Sneads last month, I am pleased that the Corps is keeping the locks at Jim Woodruff Dam manned and open for fishermen and boaters who depend on its continued operation and access.  This is a significant victory for both the recreational and small business interests of our district, and I appreciate the Corps willingness to work with us and address our concerns.”
