WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Co), Vice Chair of the
Committee on Energy and Commerce, today offered the following statement
on the state of the economy:
“Like all Americans, I am deeply concerned about the recent turmoil in
the financial markets. Over the weekend, I will review the
relief package requested by the Bush Administration, and as Chief
Deputy Whip, I will work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure that
whatever we adopt will stabilize the economy and provide relief for
consumers and homeowners, as they are feeling the rising gas and energy
prices, soaring health care costs, and the fallout of the mortgage
crisis.”
