DeGette Statement On FAA Reauthorization

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-1) issued the following statement today after voting against the Conference Report on H.R. 658. The Report is a multi-year reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through 2015.

“While I strongly support a multi-year FAA reauthorization, this bill contains unrelated provisions that will infringe on worker’s rights. I am concerned requiring employees to achieve a voting threshold of 50% to even hold a vote on unionization will set a dangerous precedent and prevent future employees from fighting to protect their retirement, their wages, and their safety. These issues should have been addressed and debated separately rather than included in this important reauthorization.”
