Reid's Statement On Donation Of Salad Bars To Two Pahrump Schools

April 19, 2010

Washington D.C.— Nevada Senator Harry Reid today thanked the United Fresh Foundation, the Vollrath Company and Cambro Manufacturing Company, for collaborating to donate salad bars to two elementary schools in Pahrump:

“Too many Nevada students don’t have access to healthy meals. For many students who receive free or half price school lunch, these are the only meals they can afford, so it’s important that healthy options are available,” said Reid.  “I thank the United Fresh Foundation and their “A Salad in Every School” campaign for recognizing the importance of sound nutrition in our schools.  The healthy variety of fruits and vegetables that salad bars provide will help combat child obesity and malnourishment.  By bringing fresh foods into our schools, students can develop healthy eating habits and cultivate a healthier generation.”
